The rain started falling just in time for the Bel Air 4th of July parade. Luckily it was a soft rain and the crowds still came to claim the spots they'd staked out. Rows of umbrellas lined the parade route to cheer on the marchers who marched without so much as a raincoat. Kudos to the beauty queens who rode the route smiling and waving through the raindrops.

Anyone know how to find out if the fireworks are cancelled or not? Its raining pretty steadily right now.
Am I right in assuming that the parade will never return to Main Street, thanks to the lane divider in front of the Court House? If so, that's a big disappointment. Bond Street, the land of building rears and parking lots, has more room for viewing, but it just isn't the same as watching the bands go down small-town Main Street.
We gain a renovated town center and lose a tradition, which is also the way I feel about the High School not being Fourth of July Central even after the new school is built, but that's another story.
Knowing the type of pull they have and lengths the Comittee goes to to put on the parade every year, I would hazard a guess that they will try to move the parade back to Main Street next year when the StreetScape project is done.
I envision a high strength steel raised platform/ramp over the island for all of the parade units to traverse! Maybe Kohl's will sponsor it!
Does anyone know the results for the bands that performed in the parade?
